General Statement (Summary of duties & responsibilities):
The DLT Executive Director is responsible for increasing the number of registered organ, eye and tissue donors in Texas, providing a unified voice for donor registration in Texas and leading and leveraging collaborative efforts and opportunities among numerous independent stakeholder organizations (state team members).
Provide business administration for Donate Life Texas, Inc. under the direction of the Donate Life Texas board of directors, including strategic planning, financial management and program development
Administer the Texas state organ, eye and tissue donor registry website and database
Represent Donate Life Texas, Inc. to state lawmakers, officials and agencies and ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations and laws
Develop, oversee and implement community outreach / public education strategies, programs and communications independently and in collaboration with state team members
Build and nurture long-term relationships that support, educate and positively influence state team organizations and stakeholders
Provide communications, logistics and administrative functions to support programs and stakeholders
Essential Job Functions:
Cultivate collaborative relationships with numerous stakeholder organizations
Establish and oversee strategic community outreach programs that increase public understanding of organ, eye and tissue recovery, donation and transplantation as well as the mechanisms and importance of donor registration among key audience segments
Analyze donor registration and donor case data to identify trends and inform decision-making.
Produce and distribute appropriate training and educational materials for stakeholder and public education purposes
Oversee multiple public-facing communication channels including website, social media, digital signage, etc.
Evaluate and manage partnerships, contracts and sponsorship opportunities
Manage incoming financial donations and associated documentation
Represent DLT among appropriate industry, healthcare and public-facing organizations
Provide regular reporting to DLT Board of Directors and other stakeholders
Establish and maintain policies and procedures for appropriate DLT functions
Identify and facilitate group purchasing opportunities among state team members
Other duties as appropriate
Education and Work Experience Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in management or administration required
Experience in donor registry, organ / tissue procurement or transplantation field highly desirable
Healthcare, nonprofit, community / public relations, communications, legislative affairs experience a plus
High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required; experience with Word Press or other CMS strongly recommended
Excellent verbal, written, public speaking and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate to a variety of individuals on all levels
Ability to work a fast-paced, demanding, primarily self-directed, flexible work schedule
Demonstrates strong attention to detail, organization, multi-tasking and time management skills as well as exceptional personal and ethical standards
Demonstrates high level of discernment in working with legal and statutory concepts
Ability to convey natural sense of empathy and compassion for those who have lost loved ones or who facing life-threatening health conditions. A comfort level with medical / surgical concepts, death and dying.
A valid state driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation required
