Comprised of over 90 employees, BTMC pharmacy provides both clinical and distributive pharmacy services across all service lines of the hospital. This work is coordinated through a main pharmacy, a pediatric pharmacy and unit-based pharmacists. The department utilizes a variety of advanced pharmacy systems, including Pyxis, DoseEdge Pharmacy Workflow System, Cerner, CareFusion PhACTs inventory management system, and bedside barcode medication verification to support workflow efficiencies and bolster patient safety. Of note, we have also recently deployed pharmacy technicians to the Emergency Department to participate in obtaining patients' medication history as part of the medication reconciliation process.
Shift: Nights, 11 hour shifts with 30 minute lunch included. 7 day rotation , 7 on 7 off, with every other weekend as part of the rotation.
Our pharmacy is unique by the way our pharmacist and technicians work directly together as a team. Our technicians can go to the pharmacist for any help they may need or question they may need answered and feel very comfortable doing so, as well as some newer pharmacist may need the help of some of our seasoned technicians.
A new technician has many opportunities working in our hospital. All technicians start as a Tech II. All technicians must be certified and licensed. We have opportunities to learn everything there is to know about Pyxis, IV & Chemo Certification as well as Medication Reconciliation.
Must be PTCB certified, have your AZ Board of Pharmacy licensure in active and good standing.
As a member of Banner Pharmacy Services all new hired are expected to participate in pharmacy specific education designed specific to each role and service line. The pharmacy education team will coordinate the learning experience and requirements to all new hires following acceptance of the position. A new employee is expected to dedicate 1-4 consecutive days of time to the orientation and training period prior to continuing to site specific training. This learning material provides new associates with the knowledge and skill to be successful within the role of a pharmacist or technician.
