This position serves as a mentor and escalation point for voice, video, and data communications equipment support including problem resolution, equipment installation, and preventative maintenance. The incumbent may serve as lead on complex communication systems projects while working closely with other corporate teams such as IT Telecom Services and Network Planning and Integration. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with moves, adds, changes, and repairs of communication systems, and ensures appropriate inventory levels of equipment and parts are maintained. This position works closely with other departmental areas, end users, and third party vendors and is responsible for documenting all request activities.
Performs scheduled maintenance as required on assigned communication systems technology. Position maintains the Intermediate Data Frame/Main Data Frame (IDF/MDF) environment in accordance with organization standards.
Provides end-user service, problem resolution and customer support for voice, video and data communications equipment for assigned facilities within region. Performs preventative maintenance and related safety testing of assigned communication systems. May assist and/or monitor work performed by outside vendors and audits service report to ensure proper documentation and verification of service charges. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with the Infection Control Risk Assessment and Facilities Above Ceiling Permit submissions for internal and vendor related projects with Telecommunication Analyst, Infection Control Preventists and Facility Services.
Ensures high quality service by providing timely and accurate problem resolution to assigned user requests. Responsibilities may include assisting the Telecommunication Analyst by conducting walk through/evaluation on small scale projects, coordinates installation, removal and repair of telephone communications equipment, etc.
Provides timely end-user training and education on the use of the telephone features and ancillary equipment. Attends training including: in-service; on-the-job; manufacturer; and other technical service sessions.
Assists with the design and facilitates the build of the intermediate and main distribution frames to allow for connection/cabling of outside lines with internal lines/network. Monitors the use of the data communication network providing status updates to prevent hard system failure.
Documents all actions and problem resolution of end-user requests using tracking management systems.
Must possess knowledge as typically obtained through the completion of an Associates Degree in electronics, telecommunications, computer technology or related field typically obtained with a minimum of seven years practical telecommunications experience.
Must demonstrate general knowledge of electronics, telecommunications and healthcare requirements. Needs experience in small scale project planning and reporting either individual or team. Requires communication and presentation skills to engage technical and non-technical audiences. Requires ability to communicate, and interact across facilities and at various levels. Successful candidate will have skills to mentor less experienced team members. As is typical in this industry, variable shifts and hours and carrying/responding to a pager may be required.
