Purpose of the Position: The Director of Financial Policy and Reimbursement provides leadership on healthcare financing and reimbursement policies in support of the mission and objectives of AzHHA and its members. The primary accountability of the Director position is as primary external contact for the Association working with state government, professional groups and members to analyze, understand, plan and respond to financial issues affecting the healthcare community in Arizona including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial health plan reimbursement issues. This position serves on both the Leadership and Policy and Advocacy teams.
Provide policy expertise on issues related to healthcare reimbursement and other healthcare financial matters on behalf of AzHHA members (50%)
Analyze and provide input on legislation and regulations impacting hospital finances.
Represent AzHHA at external stakeholder meetings, forums and presentations as the hospital reimbursement and healthcare financial policy subject matter expert.
Provide key point of contact for AHCCCS and the Department of Insurance.
Provide staffing support for the Public Policy Committee, Board of Directors and Constituency Groups on policy issues impacting hospital finances.
Assist in advocacy efforts relating to hospital financial and reimbursement policy priorities.
Bill and rule analyses completed in a timely manner.
Meetings with external stakeholders, including AHCCCS and ADOI are held with successful outcomes.
Presentations for Board of Directors and standing AzHHA committees are assembled and conducted.
Advocacy tools are developed in conjunction with other team members.
Serve as the primary contact to member hospital CFOs, Controllers, Directors of Managed Care Contracting, and Patient Financial Services Directors for reimbursement and other healthcare financial policy issues. (25%)
Provide consultative support to member hospitals on issues relating to hospital finances.
Convene and lead finance policy and reimbursement related task forces, workgroups and committees as directed by the SVP or CEO.
Member calls are returned in a timely manner and questions answered.
Task forces, workgroups and committees are convened as directed.
Monitor and analyze hospital financial trends (25%)
Collect data from hospitals and make available timely hospital financial trends to help with major policy initiatives.
Analyze annual uniform accounting reports and other information collected by ADHS.
Work with AHA and other professional groups on state and national financial issues, including Medicare.
Reports issued on a timely basis
Participation in professional association and AHA-peer meetings and calls occurs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or a related filed
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 10 years working in the health care field in an administrative capacity.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Must be very proficient with Microsoft office tools including Excel and PowerPoint.
