SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Social Worker for the Bariatric Surgery Service provides psychological consultation, support, counseling and intervention to bariatric and weight management patients through evaluation of psychological well-being. You will perform psychological evaluation for the preoperative metabolic and bariatric surgery patient and provide a formal written evaluation and interpretation of data as to the patient's readiness and ability to make an informed decision regarding surgery. You will participate in the regular Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Team meetings to discuss challenging patients. You will participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans for psychiatric care for the patient and their family, including but not limited to, smoking cessation, addiction treatment, eating disorder monitoring, etc. You will participate in post-surgical support groups on a monthly basis . This is an outpatient-only position. Your time will be divided between the Lancaster Medical Center and Hampden Medical Center bariatric teams.
Master's Degree required
Pennsylvania License as a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW)
Experience working with the bariatric patients
Experience in a psychiatric setting
