The role you’ll contribute:
In compliance with State, Federal, regulatory and accrediting agencies, the Infection Preventionist is responsible for implementing and coordinating all aspects of the Infection Prevention programs to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, medical staff members and guests. The Infection Preventionist works collaboratively with all Clinical leaders.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Reviews, analyzes and applies existing standards and/or guidelines of applicable professional organizations, accreditation organizations, regulatory and governmental agencies
Reviews microbiological data daily for significant findings and advises appropriate personnel as necessary regarding significant findings
Apply epidemiologic principles and statistical methods to identify trends and risk factors, designs and evaluates prevention and control strategies
Generates and analyzes surveillance data using standardized definitions and basic statistical techniques. Reports outcomes.
Critically evaluates significance of surveillance findings and compares those to external data sources
Maintains documentation to Infection Prevention programs, nosocomial infections, and reportable diseases.
Completes and oversees reporting to the State and NHSN.
Distributes Infection Prevention data to Medical Staff, Department Directors, and others as appropriate
Reports information required by City and/or State Health Departments, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or other official agencies.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
Two years’ experience in infection prevention and control including 1) identification of infectious disease processes, 2) surveillance and epidemiologic investigation, and 3) preventing and controlling the transmission of infectious agents.
Experience in Infection Prevention and Control program at an acute care hospital, including planning, implementing, managing, and evaluating infection prevention and control activities
BSN or Bachelor of Science in related field or Masters of Public Health
Registered Nurse with licensure in State of Florida or experienced (2 years or more) Infection Preventionist with MPH degree
Basic Life Support (BLS)
