Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate from accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound. Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Five years experience as a Senior Cardiac Sonographer. Leadership abilities. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Associate’s Degree in a related field and completion of an accredited program in Ultrasound or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry to Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation required. Must maintain active registry status.
Required Licenses: Cardiovascular Credential International CCI, American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Preferred Qualifications: College graduate. Registered by the American Registry to Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
Other Working Conditions: Working Conditions/Physical Demands:Position requires the ability to lift, push, pull, or move patients and equipment in excess of 150 pounds, with or without the use of assistive devices.

Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lead Cardiac Sonographer – **Outpatient Pediatrics**.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing Echocardiographic procedures. Monitors and supervises the work of all cardiac sonographers, and facilitates the scheduling and patient flow in all testing sites.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides direction to the cardiac sonographers, facilitates patient flow through the department, and provides support to management. Ensures management is apprised of work situations and the performance of each employee, on an ongoing basis, giving clear and accurate information. Utilizes advanced expertise and problem solving skills to assist staff in the performance of difficult cases and troubleshooting technical problems. Offers continuing guidance on work activities and procedures. Orients employees to changes in new or existing procedures. Trains newly hired technical staff and students of allied health program in the procedures of the department and pertinent medical center policies and the performance of each employee, on an ongoing basis,giving clear and accurate information. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Demonstrates skill in equipment set-up, utilization and proper maintenance procedure. Maintains quality control checks of medical testing equipment. Uses imaging and peripheral equipment, in a safe manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental and manufacturers guidelines. Observes and reports any malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. * Generates hard copies of images when necessary. Uses efficient methods and completes examinations assigned in a reasonable amount of time. Maintains cleanliness of procedure area. Prepares equipment in advance for future exams and disinfects before and after each procedure. Makes alterations in work schedule for STAT and emergency cases. Is able to alter work patterns to satisfy the needs of the patient and medical staff. Is able to recognize a medical emergency and notifies nurse or MD immediately. * Independently implements patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Explains the procedure and protocol to the patient clearly. Positions patient and ultrasound equipment for specific procedures. Provides for patient comfort before, during and after procedure. Maintains an ongoing rapport with the patient throughout the procedure to ease any anxiety the patient may have. Provides for patient privacy at all times. Assists physicians as needed during the course of the procedures. Transmits images to Syngo dynamics in order to generate a complete and proper study. * Follows accepted Non-Invasive Cardiology procedures, and uses medical information or diagnosis to determine type of procedure required for cardiac imaging. Consults policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials when necessary to ensure actions conform to defined protocols. Follows special instructions indicated on Non-Invasive Cardiology requisition. Recognizes the need for and follows isolation precautions. * Effectively assesses patients information and status, and follows appropriate procedure(s) accordingly. Uses standard procedures to identify the correct patient. Checks patients wristband by name, unit, and room number to ensure patients ID matches examination requisition or calls patient by last name, asking patient to confirm their identity by stating their first name. Introduces self to the patient. Reviews patients requisition and understands the type of exam required by each requisition and confers with medical staff regarding clarification when necessary. Seeks information or asks for assistance from supervisor regarding difficult or questionable results. * Identifies problems and implements solutions prior to submission for interpretation. Reports malfunctioning, damaged, or missing equipment to management and appropriate service personnel. Monitors the work of the staff in order to provide clear and accurate information to the manager regarding their performance. Assist manager in the scheduling of staff. Ensures proper documentation of all incidents/accidents and keeps an accurate log of equipment maintenance all issues. Understands and reviews the pending orders in ICIS and status of work completed. Reviews all echocardiographic procedures for quality control. Assist manager in maintaining standards ICAEL accreditation.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
